Why the long silence?

I feel the need to explain why I haven't been blogging lately, since it turns out that I do have readers to this blog and some of them asked me why there's not much going on in my blog. Actually there's a lot going on around here and that's why I lost track of time.

First of all, it's "tax season"! I've been busy at the office during weekdays and coming home I just want to sit back and relax and play with Michael. Then there's American Idol on TV three nights a week - well, that's enough to keep me away from computer. In between we had some celebrations: Chinese New Year on the 18th and Michael's birthday on the 20th.

Weekends is another story ... It's kitchen remodeling time! It's been 5 weekends since it started and believe it or not it's almost done. The only thing left to put on is the countertop and sink which we are going to order this weekend. I can use the kitchen now with just plywood countertop until the real countertop is ready. This week I am busy putting back all my kitchen stuffs. And for me it's a whole lot of fun!

Those are my excuses. I am also holding up on putting pictures of the kitchen until it's ready. Just wait and see.

Little update on family life:
Michael has been enjoying his new "Putt-Putt Enters The Race" which he got for birthday. Since it is a new game, there are stuffs he hasn't figured out yet. The cute thing is: once a while we'd hear him saying to himself, ".. think, Michael, think.. think.." as he encounters some problem. (Just like when Jimmy Neutron is about to get a "brain blast"). Then he would patiently find a way to figure out the game. I guess he gets a "brain blast" too, cause he hardly asks for help except for the really difficult ones. I think he's having a lot of fun with this new game, and we are having fun watching him, too.

".. singing in the car wash, is a wonderful thing..

to get covered in bubbles as they popped and ping ping..

ping.. ping.. ping.. ping.. ping.."

Blessings

I am thankful for this morning..
despite the prediction of a whole day of rain, I found this morning as nice as a showered earth.. no rain, no fog, but the soil was wet (it must have rained during the night), so the air was clean and fresh as I walked my son to his daycare.

I am thankful for my son's health..
despite the recent accident that he had, he's doing really well. The cut is just a quarter inch wide and is healing. He had a little cold and cough the last few days, but he's all better now.

I am thankful for my husband's love for Michael..
despite his long distance job site, he'd be here when he's needed. It's so sweet of him to come home just because he misses Michael, or to call me each morning to check on Michael.

I am thankful for my cell phone..
despite the fact that I am not a cell phone addict and I only carry it just to keep in touch with my husband, but in time of need I took care of a lot of issues during the last few days using this little thing. I took care of Michael's health insurance problem because he was in a transition between plans when the accident happened. I took care of the kitchen cabinets delivery. I took care of appointment to see the kitchen countertops. I kept in touch with my clients due to their tax stuffs needs. I am beginning to like this thing hanging around in my pocket.

Many blessings indeed and still counting..

Midnight trip to E R

You have to expect the unexpected...

This happened the night of Friday, February 2nd, 2007.
Little Michael was so happy that papa was home that night. We stayed up late and Michael was dancing and twirling in the living room when a little twirl threw him off balance and he hit the corner of our tiny coffee table. I picked him up immediately as he screamed and cried. I knew it was a bad, I asked my husband to look at him while I hold him as I couldn't dare to do so.
He was bleeding from near his right eye and we both panicked. My husband called 911 and the paramedics were here in one minute (Great job guys!).
The bleeding was controlled well, he stopped crying as the paramedic checked on him. His eye sight seemed to be fine but still the cut looked deep so we need to check him up to E R. Then off we went..

Waiting in E R wasn't fun at all, it was midnight and cold and we had to wait a long time. We were placed in a room, we were tired and worried and little Michael was restless. I had to hold an ice pack still on his cut but he couldn't stand the wait. Good thing it didn't bleed bad, so I let him moved around the bed and read a book. Finally a doctor came to see him and decided he didn't need stitches. They cleaned the cut again and put dermabond skin glue to cover the wound and then we left.
This is how he looked like the day after (the glue was there):

Well, it was four nights ago and Michael is doing great right now. In fact the glue on his cut was shed off during his naptime today. His wound looks okay though it's not healed yet. I need to make sure he's not scrubbing it as it will itch towards the healing process.

That was some night:
"it sure put belts on our stomachs".
